BACTS metropolitan planning area includes all of Bangor, Brewer, Penobscot Indian Island, Veazie; and portions of Bradley, Hampden, Hermon, Milford, Old Town, Orono, and Orrington.

What does BACTS do?

BACTS primary responsibility is to establish a setting for effective decision making in the metropolitan area and develop regional planning products that federal legislation requires as part of the metropolitan transportation planning process. BACTS also has a contract with the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) to provide technical assistance for transportation related issues in rural Penobscot County, for more information please click here. BACTS also provides opportunities for public participation in transportation planning and funding decisions. In addition, BACTS sponsors and conducts studies to assist in the transportation planning process.
