Overview of Two-Phase Regional Climate Action Planning Process

Phase 1 required that the consultant completed greenhouse gas emissions inventories and a climate vulnerability assessment for the BACTS region.

Phase 2 requires that the consultant design and execute a regional climate action planning process for the BACTS region. This process will build on findings from Phase 1, Maine Won’t Wait, and where relevant Portland and South Portland’s One Climate Future. A final climate action plan will provide concrete, data-driven strategies and implementation plans (including policies, programs, measures, projects, infrastructure, and community actions) to achieve the climate goals as well as interim objectives the cities should achieve to reach near carbon neutrality.

Phase 2 has started and is expected to finish in March of 2024.
