Bangor Region Greenfield Transit Study

BACTS is conducting a study to assess transit service in the Greater Bangor region. The study will explore what type and level of service would be optimal for the region without the constraints of existing infrastructure and historic expectations. A greenfield assessment will determine what is the most cost effective service structure which meets community needs while also protecting against an increasingly unstable workforce and financial constraints. 

• Regional Propensity & Demand Analysis: Identify high-potential transit corridors and “transit deserts” based on updated demographic, employment, and land-use data (independent of current routes).

• Operational Baseline: Evaluate the performance and productivity of current transit providers, including route coverage, frequency, and span of service to identify what is working and what isn’t.

• Alternative Service Model Evaluation: Explore the viability of diverse service types to address workforce shortages and financial sustainability.

• Regional Connectivity Audit: Assess how well local and statewide transit providers integrate as a cohesive network for Great Bangor Region users.
